Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to practice English and Math skills through fun board game activities.
Materials and Prep
- A board game of your choice
- Paper and pencils
- English flashcards (optional)
No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Activity 1: Board Game Vocabulary
- Activity 2: Math Challenge
- Activity 3: Create Your Own Board Game
Take out your board game and identify different parts of the game, such as the board, dice, tokens, and cards. Practice saying these words aloud and try to spell them correctly. You can also create flashcards with the words and definitions to reinforce your vocabulary.
Roll the dice and move your token on the board. Each time you land on a space, solve a math problem related to the number on the space. For example, if you land on a space with the number 5, you can add or subtract 5 from a given number. Keep track of your correct answers and see how many you can get right!
Use your creativity to design your own board game. Draw a colorful board with different spaces and create rules for the game. You can incorporate English and Math challenges into your game to make it educational and fun. Once you finish, play your game with a family member or friend.
