By the end of this lesson, the 2-year-old homeschool student will be able to recognize and identify basic shapes using dinosaur-themed activities.

Materials and Prep

• Dinosaur toys or pictures
• Construction paper
• Scissors
• Glue stick
• Markers or crayons

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

• Shape Dinosaur Hunt: Hide dinosaur toys or pictures around the room. Encourage the student to find them and identify the shapes of the dinosaurs they find.
• Dinosaur Shape Collage: Cut out different shapes from construction paper and let the student glue them together to create their own dinosaur shape collage.
• Dinosaur Shape Tracing: Draw dinosaur outlines on construction paper and have the student trace the shapes using markers or crayons.

• "Look at this dinosaur! It has a big triangle shape for its head. Can you find other dinosaurs with triangle shapes?"
• "Let's create our own dinosaur using different shapes. Can you find a circle for the head and rectangles for the body?"
