Objective
By the end of this lesson, the 2-year-old student will have fun exploring Pom Pom play in water, developing their fine motor skills and sensory awareness.
Materials and Prep
- A shallow container or basin
- Clean water
- Assorted Pom Poms in different colors and sizes
- A towel for drying hands
Before starting the lesson, ensure that the materials are clean and safe for the child to use. Set up the container with water and place the Pom Poms nearby.
Activities
- Water Scooping: Show the child how to use a small cup or spoon to scoop water from the container and pour it back in. Encourage them to scoop water over the Pom Poms and observe how they float or sink.
- Pom Pom Fishing: Have the child use their hands or a small net to catch the Pom Poms from the water. They can practice their grasping skills and hand-eye coordination.
- Pom Pom Sorting: Ask the child to sort the Pom Poms by color or size. They can place the Pom Poms in different sections of the container or on a towel to categorize them.
- Splash and Play: Let the child freely explore the water and Pom Poms. Encourage them to splash, squeeze the Pom Poms, and observe the different textures and colors.
