Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create your own collage using magazines and papers.

Materials and Prep

  • Magazines
  • Papers of different colors
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • Large sheet of paper or cardboard as a base

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have gathered all the materials needed and set up a workspace with enough room for cutting and gluing.

Activities

  1. Explore and Gather: Look through the magazines and papers and find interesting images, patterns, and colors that catch your eye. Cut them out and set them aside.
  2. Plan Your Design: Think about what you want your collage to look like. You can create a specific scene, a pattern, or just let your imagination guide you.
  3. Arrange and Glue: Start arranging the cut-out images and papers on the large sheet of paper or cardboard. Play around with different placements until you are happy with the composition. Once you are satisfied, use the glue stick to secure everything in place.
  4. Add Details: If you want to, you can use markers or colored pencils to add extra details or highlights to your collage.
  5. Show and Tell: Once your collage is complete, share it with others! Explain what inspired you and what you enjoyed most about the process.
