Activities
- Warm-up exercise: Start by practicing basic brushstrokes and mixing colors on a separate piece of paper. Experiment with different techniques such as stippling, cross-hatching, and blending.
- Observational painting: Choose a reference image or object to paint. Spend some time observing the details, colors, and textures. Begin by sketching the outlines lightly on the canvas or paper.
- Color blocking: Use bold brushstrokes to fill in the main areas of your artwork with flat blocks of color. Don't worry about details at this stage.
- Layering and blending: Once the base colors are dry, start adding layers of paint to create depth and dimension. Experiment with blending colors together to achieve smooth transitions.
