Materials and Prep
- A deck of playing cards
- A set of dice
- Pen and paper for keeping score
- Basic understanding of multiplication tables
Activities
-
Times Table War:
Divide the deck of cards evenly between two players. Each player flips over two cards and multiplies the numbers together. The player with the highest product wins the round and collects all the cards. The game continues until all the cards have been played. The player with the most cards at the end wins the game.
-
Roll and Multiply:
Roll two dice and multiply the numbers together. The student should try to answer as quickly as possible. Keep track of the correct answers and aim for a personal best score within a time limit.
-
Multiplication Bingo:
Create a 5x5 grid on a piece of paper with random multiplication problems in each box. The student should solve the problems mentally and mark off the correct answers on the grid. The first person to get five answers in a row, column, or diagonal wins the game.
