Materials and Prep

  • Pen and paper
  • Access to a computer or library for research
  • Optional: Art supplies for a creative activity

Activities

  • Create a Greek Mythology Character:

Have the student imagine and draw their own Greek mythology character. Encourage them to think about the character's appearance, powers, and backstory. They can also give the character a name.

  • Research a Greek God or Goddess:

Ask the student to choose a Greek god or goddess that interests them. Instruct them to research and write a short paragraph about their chosen deity, including their powers, symbols, and any famous myths associated with them.

  • Read and Retell a Greek Myth:

Provide the student with a simplified version of a popular Greek myth, such as the story of Perseus and Medusa. Have them read the myth and then retell it in their own words, either orally or in writing.

  • Create a Mythological Map:

Ask the student to draw a map of ancient Greece and mark the locations where different Greek gods and goddesses were believed to have originated or had significant associations. They can also include famous mythological landmarks.
