Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to explore and appreciate animals through art and science activities.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencils
- Colored pencils or markers
- Scissors
- Glue
- Animal books or online resources
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Create an Animal Collage:
Using animal books or online resources, have the student cut out pictures of different animals they find interesting. Then, they can arrange and glue the pictures onto a piece of paper to create a collage. Encourage them to be creative with the placement and composition of the animals.
-
Draw and Color an Animal Habitat:
Ask the student to choose an animal and research its natural habitat. Have them draw the animal in its habitat using pencils, and then color it using colored pencils or markers. Encourage them to include details about the habitat and any other animals or plants that may be present.
-
Create Animal Masks:
Provide the student with blank paper, scissors, and colored pencils or markers. Ask them to choose an animal and draw its face on the paper. Then, they can cut out the face shape and add details such as ears, eyes, and nose. Finally, they can attach a string or elastic band to the sides of the mask to wear it.
