Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to match the English names of the days with the biblical days of creation.

Materials and Prep

  • A set of flashcards or pieces of paper with the English names of the days of the week
  • A set of flashcards or pieces of paper with the biblical days of creation
  • A clear and open space to lay out the flashcards or papers

Activities

  • Activity 1: Memory Game
    Lay out all the flashcards or papers with the English names of the days of the week and the biblical days of creation. Mix them up and turn them face down. Take turns flipping over two cards at a time, trying to find a match between the English name and the biblical day. If you find a match, keep the pair. If not, turn them face down again and let the other person take a turn. Keep playing until all the matches are found.
  • Activity 2: Speed Round
    Set a timer for one minute. Lay out the flashcards or papers with the English names of the days of the week and the biblical days of creation. Start the timer and see how many matches you can find within the given time. Challenge yourself to beat your own record each time you play.
  • Activity 3: Story Creation
    Use the flashcards or papers with the English names of the days of the week and the biblical days of creation to create your own story. Start with "On Sunday, God created..." and continue with each day of the week, incorporating the matching biblical day. Be creative and have fun with your story!
