Activities
-
Introduction to Primary Colors
Start by explaining the concept of primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) and how they are the building blocks for all other colors.
-
Color Mixing Experiment
Set up three separate areas on your palette or paper plates for the primary colors. Dip your paintbrush in one primary color and mix it with another primary color to create a secondary color. Repeat this process with different combinations of primary colors and observe the new colors that are formed.
-
Create a Color Wheel
Using the colors you have mixed, create a color wheel on your paper or canvas. Start with the primary colors and then fill in the secondary colors in between. Label each color on the wheel.
-
Painting Project
Now that you have a good understanding of color mixing, use your newfound knowledge to create your own artwork. Experiment with different color combinations and techniques to express your creativity.
