Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to connect number names, numerals, and quantities up to 10.
Materials and Prep
- Counting cards with numbers 1-10
- Small objects for counting (e.g., buttons, coins, toys)
- Paper and markers for drawing
- Enthusiasm and readiness to have fun!
Activities
- Number Hunt: Hide the counting cards around the room. Have the student find each card and say the number out loud.
- Counting Objects: Use the small objects to practice counting up to 10. Encourage the student to match the number of objects with the numeral on the card.
- Number Drawing: Ask the student to draw the corresponding number of objects next to each numeral on a piece of paper.
Talking Points
- Quotation: "Numbers are like names for how many things we have. Let's learn the names of numbers up to 10!"
- Quotation: "When we see the number 3, we know it means three things. Let's count together to see what three things look like!"
- Quotation: "Drawing the same number of objects as the number we see helps us remember what each number means. Let's draw together!"
