Objective
By the end of this lesson, Scarlett will be able to count blocks accurately and understand basic mathematical concepts.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed: Blocks of different colors and sizes
No special preparation required, just have the blocks ready for the activities.
Activities
- Sorting Fun: Ask Scarlett to sort the blocks by color or size. Count each group together.
- Building Towers: Encourage Scarlett to build towers using the blocks, then count the number of blocks in each tower.
- Math Race: Create a simple math race where Scarlett has to count and pick up the correct number of blocks as fast as she can.
Talking Points
- Counting Blocks: "Let's count together as we touch each block. 1, 2, 3, ..."
- Colors and Sizes: "Can you tell me how many red blocks there are? Let's count them together."
- Building Towers: "How many blocks did you use to build that tall tower? Let's count and find out!"
- Math Fun: "Math can be so much fun when we use blocks to learn. Let's keep counting and playing!"
