Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand how different parts make up a whole using numbers up to 10.
Materials and Prep
Materials: Paper, markers or crayons
Prep: None
Activities
1. Draw a big circle on the paper and divide it into sections like a pizza. Color each section with a different color.
2. Use your markers or crayons to draw different shapes like squares, circles, and triangles. Count the number of each shape you draw.
3. Ask a family member to join you in drawing a picture together. Each of you draw different parts of the picture and then combine them to make a whole.
Talking Points
- "Let's imagine this pizza is divided into slices. Each slice is a part of the whole pizza!"
- "How many triangles did we draw? Let's count them together!"
- "When we put our drawings together, we create a bigger picture with different parts coming together."
