Talking Points
- What is a decimal?
"Decimals are numbers that include a point or dot to separate the whole number part from the fractional part." - Understanding place value:
"Each digit in a decimal number has a specific place value. The number to the left of the decimal point is the whole number part, and the numbers to the right represent fractions of a whole." - Identifying place values:
"When looking at a decimal number, we read it as 'ones, tenths, hundredths, thousandths, and so on'. Each digit's position tells us its place value."
