Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify different animals, learn about their habitats, and understand how they move and eat.

Materials and Prep

  • Animal picture cards
  • Colorful food cutouts
  • Outdoor space for exploration
  • Swimming pool or water play area
  • Prepare some animal sounds

No prior knowledge required, just be ready to have lots of fun!

Activities

  • Animal Parade: Use the animal picture cards to create a parade, make animal sounds, and move like the animals.
  • Food Matching Game: Match the colorful food cutouts to the correct animal cards based on what they eat.
  • Nature Walk: Go outside to explore the backyard or park, and try to spot different animals and their habitats.
  • Swimming Time: If possible, enjoy some fun water play or swimming time to cool off and have a blast!

Talking Points

  • Animals come in different shapes and sizes. Let's say, "Big elephant, tiny mouse, animals all around the house!"
  • Animals need food to grow big and strong. We can pretend to eat like animals, "Chomp, chomp, munch, munch, food is yummy for my lunch!"
  • Animals live in different places. Some in the jungle, some in the sea. Let's make animal sounds and move like them, "Roar like a lion, swim like a fish, animals are amazing, that's our wish!"
