Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create your own animal-themed artwork, write a short story about your favorite animal, solve simple math problems related to animals, and learn interesting facts about animals in different parts of the world.
Materials and Prep
- Coloring materials (crayons, markers, colored pencils)
- Blank paper
- Pencil and eraser
- Ruler
- Animal books or access to animal websites
No prior knowledge needed, just bring your creativity and curiosity!
Activities
- Create an animal collage: Cut out pictures of different animals from magazines or draw your own, then glue them onto a piece of paper to create a collage.
- Write a short story: Choose your favorite animal and write a short story about its adventures. Include where it lives, what it eats, and any special abilities it has.
- Animal math problems: Practice addition and subtraction by solving animal-themed math problems. For example, if you have 5 lions and 3 zebras, how many animals are there in total?
Let your imagination run wild as you design your very own animal world!
Your story can take your animal on a journey through the jungle, the ocean, or even outer space!
Math can be fun when you're counting your animal friends!
Talking Points
- Animals come in all shapes and sizes. Some animals live in the forest, some in the ocean, and some even in the desert.
- Each animal has its own special features that help it survive in its environment. For example, a polar bear has thick fur to keep it warm in the cold Arctic.
- We can learn a lot from animals about working together and taking care of our planet. Just like how ants work as a team to build their homes.
"Did you know that a group of lions is called a pride? Lions are known as the kings of the jungle!"
"Polar bears have white fur that helps them blend in with the snow. It's like wearing a fluffy white coat all the time!"
"Ants are tiny but mighty! They work together to create amazing ant hills underground."
