Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will have explored and learned about dinosaurs through engaging sensory activities.
Materials and Prep
Materials needed: Dinosaur toys or figurines, sand or dirt, water, paint, brushes, paper, and any other sensory materials you have available.
Prepare the sensory stations before starting the activities.
Activities
- Dino Dig: Create a mini excavation site using sand or dirt. Hide dinosaur toys in it and let the student dig them out using brushes or spoons.
- Dino Footprints: Dip dinosaur toys' feet in paint and let the student create footprints on paper to learn about different dinosaur sizes.
- Dino Swamp: Fill a container with water and let the student create a dinosaur habitat with floating toys and plants.
Talking Points
- Dinosaur Characteristics: "Dinosaurs were ancient reptiles that lived millions of years ago and varied in size and shape."
- Dino Habitats: "Dinosaurs lived in different environments like swamps, forests, and plains, depending on their species."
- Extinction: "Some theories suggest that a catastrophic event led to the extinction of dinosaurs around 65 million years ago."
