By the end of this lesson, Chanelle will be able to build a small house using real timber.

Materials and Prep

Materials Needed:

  • Real timber planks
  • Hammer and nails
  • Saw
  • Measuring tape
  • Work gloves

Preparation:

  • Ensure a safe and spacious work area
  • Review basic woodworking safety rules
  • Prepare a design plan for the small house

Activities

  • Activity 1: Design Your House

    Draw a blueprint or design plan for your small house. Include the dimensions and layout.

  • Activity 2: Measure and Cut Timber

    Use the measuring tape to measure the timber according to your design. Practice cutting the timber with the saw.

  • Activity 3: Assemble the House

    Start assembling the house by nailing the timber pieces together. Follow your design plan carefully.

  • Activity 4: Decorate Your House

    Add personal touches to your small house with paint, decorations, or any creative ideas you have.
