Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand basic arithmetic concepts while baking a cake.

Materials and Prep

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • A mixing bowl
  • A whisk or spoon for mixing
  • A cake pan
  • An oven
  • Ingredients for the cake (flour, sugar, eggs, etc.)
  • An adult to supervise the use of the oven

Before starting this lesson, make sure you have all the necessary materials and ingredients ready. Also, ensure that you have adult supervision when using the oven.

Activities

  1. Measure the flour

  2. Count the number of eggs

  3. Add the sugar and count the spoonfuls

  4. Mix the ingredients together

  5. Pour the batter into the cake pan

  6. Bake the cake in the oven

  7. Wait for the cake to cool down

  8. Decorate the cake with frosting or sprinkles

  9. Share and enjoy the delicious cake you baked!
