Objective

By the end of this lesson, the 1-year-old student will be able to recognize and say basic Spanish words related to colors and animals.

Materials and Prep

  • Colorful flashcards with pictures of animals
  • Soft toys or stuffed animals in different colors
  • Enthusiasm and patience

Activities

  • Sing and Learn: Sing simple Spanish songs about colors and animals. Encourage the student to repeat after you.
  • Matching Game: Show the student a flashcard of an animal and ask them to find the toy animal of the same color.
  • Color Hunt: Walk around the house pointing out different colored objects and saying the color in Spanish.

Talking Points

  • Greetings: Say "Hola" (Hello) and "Adiós" (Goodbye) with a smile.
  • Colors: Point to a red toy and say "Rojo" (Red). Point to a blue toy and say "Azul" (Blue).
  • Animals: Show a flashcard of a cat and say "Gato" (Cat). Show a flashcard of a dog and say "Perro" (Dog).
