- Pencil
- Outdoor space
No prior knowledge needed. Just come ready to explore and have fun!
Activities
- Go on a nature walk in your backyard or a nearby park. Use the binoculars to observe birds and insects.
- Sketch or write about what you observe in your notebook. Draw a picture of your favorite bird or insect.
- Collect leaves or flowers during your walk. Explore the different shapes, colors, and textures.
- Create a nature collage using the leaves and flowers you collected. Arrange them on a piece of paper.
Listen to the sounds of nature and try to identify different bird calls.
Use your pencil to carefully draw what you see. You can also write a short description next to your drawing.
Feel the leaves and flowers with your hands. Are they smooth, rough, soft, or prickly?
Get creative and make a beautiful artwork using the natural materials you found.
Talking Points
- Look at the bird through the binoculars and say, "Wow, I can see its feathers up close! Birds are so colorful."
- When sketching, say, "I'm drawing a picture of the bird we saw. I see its beak and wings."
- While feeling the leaves, say, "This leaf feels smooth. Let's find another one and see if it feels different."
- Encourage creativity during the collage activity, say, "Let's make a pretty picture using the leaves and flowers. How should we arrange them?"
