Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to improve their reading skills through engaging activities related to their interest in playing with dolls.
Materials and Prep
- Dolls (any type the student prefers)
- Storybooks or picture books featuring dolls
- Paper and pencils
No additional preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Storytime with Dolls: Have the student choose a doll and select a storybook or picture book featuring dolls. Encourage the student to read the story aloud to their doll, using different voices for the characters.
- Character Creation: Ask the student to create their own doll character. They can draw or describe the doll's appearance, personality, and interests. Encourage them to think about what kind of stories this doll character would be a part of.
- Writing Adventure: Prompt the student to write a short adventure story involving their doll character. They can include dialogue, descriptions, and a problem to solve. Encourage creativity and imagination.
- Reading Comprehension: Choose a page or passage from the student's storybook or picture book. Ask them to read it aloud and then answer questions about the content. Focus on understanding the main idea, details, and making connections to their own doll character.
