No prior knowledge is required for this lesson.
Activities
-
Activity 1: Doll Addition
Choose two dolls and count how many accessories each doll has (e.g., hats, shoes, etc.). Write down the numbers for each doll. Then add the two numbers together to find the total number of accessories both dolls have.
-
Activity 2: Doll Subtraction
Select a doll and count how many accessories it has. Choose another doll and count its accessories as well. Write down the numbers for each doll. Subtract the number of accessories of the second doll from the first doll to find the difference.
-
Activity 3: Doll Multiplication
Pick a doll and count how many sets of clothes it has. Count the number of dolls you have in total. Multiply the number of sets of clothes by the total number of dolls to find out how many outfits you have altogether.
-
Activity 4: Doll Division
Arrange your dolls into groups of equal size. Count how many dolls are in each group and write down the numbers. Then divide the total number of dolls by the number of groups to determine how many dolls are in each group.
