Materials and Prep
- Seeds (any easy-to-grow variety, like beans or sunflowers)
- Small pots or containers (can be made from recycled materials like yogurt cups)
- Soil (can be gathered from the backyard or a garden)
- Water (for watering the plants)
- A sunny spot for the pots to grow
- Notebook or paper for drawing and notes
Before the lesson, make sure to gather all materials and find a sunny spot where Bodey can plant his seeds.
Activities
-
Planting Seeds:
Bodey will fill the pots with soil and plant the seeds. He will learn how deep to plant them and how much space they need to grow. This hands-on activity will help him understand the planting process.
-
Watering the Plants:
After planting, Bodey will water the seeds. He will learn how plants need water to grow and how to take care of them. This activity will teach him about responsibility in gardening.
-
Drawing the Garden:
Bodey can draw pictures of his garden and the plants he planted. This will help him express his creativity and think about what he wants his garden to look like.
-
Food Storage Discussion:
Talk to Bodey about how we store food after we grow it. Discuss different ways to keep food fresh, like using jars or putting things in the refrigerator. This will help him understand the importance of food storage.

- "Why do you think we need to store food? What happens if we don’t?"
- "Let’s draw our garden! What colors do you want to use for the plants?"
