Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basics of game design using Roblox, including how to create their own simple game, and learn about the importance of creativity and teamwork in game development.
Materials and Prep
- A computer or device with internet access to play Roblox
- A Roblox account (if not already created, guide the student through the registration process)
- Basic knowledge of how to navigate Roblox
Activities
-
Roblox Exploration
Start by exploring different games within Roblox. Choose a few popular games and discuss what makes them fun. Ask the student what they like about each game.
-
Game Design Brainstorm
Have the student think of their own game idea. Encourage them to consider the theme, characters, and objectives of the game. They can draw their ideas on paper if they want!
-
Building in Roblox Studio
Guide the student through Roblox Studio, where they can start building their game. Help them create a simple environment, add objects, and even some basic scripting.
-
Playtesting
Once their game is built, let the student playtest their creation. Encourage them to invite family members or friends to try it out and give feedback.
