Objective

By the end of this lesson, Mila will learn about the states of South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, with a special focus on the fun attractions in Orlando, Florida. She will be able to identify key landmarks, understand the culture of these states, and express her thoughts on what she would like to see and do there.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Colored pencils or crayons
  • Map of the Southeastern United States (if available, or draw one)
  • Notebook for writing notes and thoughts
  • Access to a computer or tablet for research (optional)

Before the lesson, it would be helpful to have a brief overview of the geography of the Southeastern United States and some fun facts about each state, especially Orlando.

Activities

  • State Exploration:

    Mila will choose one state (South Carolina, Georgia, or Florida) and research fun facts about it. She can write down interesting things like popular foods, famous places, and unique animals found in that state.

  • Create a Travel Brochure:

    Mila will create a colorful travel brochure for Orlando, Florida. She can include pictures (drawn or printed), fun facts, and a list of places she wants to visit, like theme parks or museums.

  • Map Adventure:

    Mila can draw a simple map of the Southeastern U.S. and mark where South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida are located. She can also mark where Orlando is and add any attractions she learned about.

  • Role Play:

    Mila can pretend to be a tour guide in Orlando. She can practice telling others about the fun places to visit and what makes Orlando special. This can be done with family members or even in front of a mirror!
