Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to demonstrate basic drawing techniques and apply them to create your own artwork.
Materials and Prep
- Pencil
- Eraser
- Plain white paper
- Reference images (optional)
No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.
Activities
- Warm-up exercise: Start by practicing basic lines and shapes. Draw straight lines, curved lines, and different shapes such as circles, squares, and triangles. Experiment with different pressures on the pencil to create variations in line thickness.
- Observational drawing: Choose an object from your surroundings, such as a fruit or a household item. Take your time to observe the object closely, noticing its shape, texture, and details. Use your pencil to draw what you see, focusing on accuracy and proportion.
- Imaginative drawing: Let your imagination run wild! Think of a scene or a character that you would like to draw. Start with a basic outline and gradually add details and shading to bring your creation to life.
- Reflection and critique: Take a step back and evaluate your artwork. What do you like about it? What could be improved? Share your drawing with a family member or a friend and ask for their feedback. Consider their suggestions and think about how you can apply them to future drawings.
