Objective
By the end of this lesson, Gabriella will have fun exploring balance and coordination while using her bike and standing frame. She will practice moving, stopping, and turning, enhancing her motor skills and confidence in movement.
Materials and Prep
- Bike (suitable for her age and size)
- Standing frame (if applicable)
- Safe, open space for activities
- Comfortable clothing for movement
- Water for hydration
Ensure the area is free of obstacles and that the bike and standing frame are in good condition. It's important to supervise Gabriella closely during activities.
Activities
- Bike Exploration:
Let Gabriella ride her bike around a safe, open area. Encourage her to explore different speeds and practice stopping and starting. You can guide her to make gentle turns to help her develop coordination.
- Frame Fun:
Using the standing frame, Gabriella can practice standing and moving side to side. Encourage her to take small steps while holding onto the frame, which will help her strengthen her legs and improve balance.
- Obstacle Course:
Create a simple obstacle course using cones or markers (if available). Gabriella can ride her bike around the cones or walk with the standing frame, which will add a fun challenge and enhance her motor skills.
- Follow the Leader:
Take turns being the leader. You can walk or ride your bike, and Gabriella will follow you. This activity encourages her to mimic movements and practice her coordination and balance.
