Materials and Prep
- No additional materials are needed for this lesson.
- Prepare a comfortable and safe space for Luna to move and play freely.
- Be ready to use simple language and lots of enthusiasm to keep Luna engaged.
Activities
-
Counting with Art:
Use crayons or finger paints to create a colorful counting book. Help Luna draw one sun, two stars, three flowers, and so on up to ten. Encourage her to count out loud as she draws.
-
Counting Songs:
Sing counting songs together, such as "Five Little Ducks" or "Ten in the Bed." Use hand motions or dance to make it more fun and interactive!
-
Movement Counting:
Incorporate physical activity by counting jumps or claps. For example, jump up and down ten times while counting together. This combines physical education with counting.
-
Story Time:
Read a simple story that includes counting. Pause to count items on the page or characters in the story together, reinforcing the numbers.
-
Nature Count:
Go outside and count items in nature, like leaves, flowers, or stones. Point to each item as you count to reinforce the concept of numbers in the environment.
