Objective

By the end of this lesson, Luna will be able to recognize and count numbers from 1 to 10 through engaging activities in various subjects, fostering her love for learning and enhancing her counting skills.

Materials and Prep

  • No specific materials are needed, just a playful and interactive environment.
  • Prepare a space where Luna can move around freely and safely.
  • Be ready to use your voice and expressions to make counting fun and engaging.

Activities

  • Counting Songs: Sing simple counting songs with Luna. Use songs like "Five Little Ducks" or "Ten in the Bed" to make counting fun and rhythmic.

  • Counting Steps: Go for a little walk around the house or yard and count each step together. You can say, "One step, two steps, three steps!"

  • Finger Counting: Use your fingers to count together. Show one finger for one, two fingers for two, and so on, up to ten. You can say, "Look! One finger! Now two fingers!"

  • Counting Objects: Find small objects around the house (like toys or blocks) and count them together. You can say, "Let's count the blocks! One, two, three!"

  • Art with Numbers: Draw numbers in the air with your finger and encourage Luna to mimic you. You can say, "Let's draw a big number one in the air!"

Talking Points

  • "Can you show me one finger? Great job! Now let's show two fingers!"
  • "Look at these blocks! Let's count them together: one, two, three!"
  • "We're going to take some steps! Ready? One step, two steps!"
  • "Let's sing our counting song! Can you sing along with me?"
  • "Wow! You did amazing counting! Let's do it again!"
