Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will create their own pirate-themed artwork using various fun materials. They will explore their creativity and express their ideas about pirates through art!
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons
- Googly eyes
- Pom poms
- Pipe cleaners
- Glitter
- Markers
- Scissors
Before starting, make sure to have a clean workspace. You might want to put down some newspaper or a plastic sheet to catch any glitter or mess. It's also a good idea to have a plan for what kind of pirate artwork you want to create!
Activities
-
Draw Your Pirate
Using crayons and markers, draw a pirate character! Think about what your pirate looks like. Does he have a big hat? A treasure map? Use your imagination!
-
Create a Pirate Ship
On another piece of paper, design your very own pirate ship. Use pipe cleaners for the masts and pom poms for decorations. Don’t forget to draw the ocean and maybe some treasure!
-
Decorate with Glitter
Once your drawings are done, you can add some sparkle! Use glitter to make your pirate and ship shine. Just sprinkle it on and watch your artwork come to life!
-
Make a Pirate Hat
Using paper, cut out a pirate hat shape. Decorate it with googly eyes and glitter. Once you’re done, wear it while you show off your artwork!
