Objective
By the end of this lesson, Dalton will be able to recognize and read at least five new sight words. He will also be able to use these words in simple sentences, boosting his reading confidence and skills.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Crayons or markers
- Space to move around for activities
- List of sight words (e.g., the, and, see, go, can)
Before the lesson, prepare a list of five sight words that Dalton will focus on. Make sure to have a fun and engaging space ready for the activities!
Activities
-
Word Hunt:
Hide the sight words around the room. Dalton will go on a treasure hunt to find them! When he finds a word, he will read it out loud.
-
Word Art:
Using crayons or markers, Dalton will create a colorful poster with the sight words. He can draw pictures that represent each word to make it more fun!
-
Sentence Building:
After learning the words, Dalton will create simple sentences using them. For example, “I can see.” He can say the sentences out loud to practice.
-
Word Relay:
Set up two stations. At one station, Dalton picks a sight word and runs to the other station to say it out loud. This will help him remember the words while being active!
