Objective

By the end of this lesson, Tanner will have created a unique piece of artwork that reflects his personal style and creativity. He will learn about different art techniques and how to express emotions through visual art.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper (any size)
  • Pencils (preferably different hardness)
  • Colored pencils, markers, or crayons
  • Ruler (optional)
  • Eraser
  • Access to online art tutorials or videos (if desired)

Before the lesson, ensure that Tanner has a clean and well-lit workspace. It might be helpful to look at some examples of different art styles online to inspire his creativity.

Activities

  • Art Style Exploration:

Tanner will research and choose an art style that interests him, such as impressionism, abstract, or cartooning. He can look at famous artists' works online and take notes on what he likes about their style.

  • Sketching Basics:

Using his pencils, Tanner will practice basic shapes and shading techniques. He can create simple objects around him or draw from a reference photo. This will help him understand form and depth.

  • Create a Personal Artwork:

After exploring different styles and practicing sketching, Tanner will create his own artwork. He can combine techniques he learned and use colors that resonate with him. The goal is to express his feelings or a story through his art.

  • Reflection and Sharing:

Once the artwork is complete, Tanner will take a moment to reflect on his creative process. He can share his artwork with family members or friends and explain what inspired him and the techniques he used.
