Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the importance of self-care practices such as personal hygiene, getting enough rest, staying hydrated, and eating healthy. The student will be able to create a simple self-care routine that they can follow daily.

Materials and Prep

  • Access to a bathroom for hygiene activities (shower, brushing teeth, etc.)
  • A notebook or paper for writing down the self-care routine
  • A timer or clock to track time spent on activities
  • A list of healthy foods (can be made together during the lesson)

Activities

  • Self-Care Routine Creation: Start by discussing what self-care means and why it’s important. Then, help the student create a personalized self-care routine. They can write down activities like taking a shower, brushing teeth, and going to bed on time.

  • Hygiene Challenge: Set a timer and have the student practice their hygiene activities (like brushing teeth or taking a shower) within a specific time frame. This makes it fun and adds a bit of excitement!

  • Healthy Eating Exploration: Together, brainstorm a list of healthy foods. Discuss why these foods are good for the body and how they can help with energy and mood. Create a colorful poster of these foods.

  • Water Drinking Game: Create a fun challenge to drink a certain amount of water throughout the day. Use a fun container or cup to make it more exciting, and track the amount consumed.

  • Bedtime Routine Role Play: Act out a bedtime routine together. Discuss the importance of getting enough rest and how it helps the body and mind. This can include reading a book or dimming the lights.
