Objective
By the end of this lesson, Zayn will learn the basics of building in Roblox, including how to use the Roblox Studio tools to create simple structures and understand the fundamentals of game design.
Materials and Prep
- Computer with Roblox Studio installed
- Internet connection
- A notebook and pencil for jotting down ideas
- Basic knowledge of how to navigate Roblox Studio (if not, we can go through it together)
Activities
-
Exploring Roblox Studio
Start by opening Roblox Studio and exploring the interface. Zayn will learn about the different tools available, such as the Move, Scale, and Rotate tools. This will help him understand how to manipulate objects in his game.
-
Building a Simple House
Zayn will use the tools he just learned to build a simple house. He can choose the shape, size, and color of the house, and even add some fun details like windows and a door.
-
Creating a Game Environment
Once the house is built, Zayn can create a small game environment around it. This could include trees, paths, or even a small park area. This activity will help him think about how to design a space for players to explore.
-
Testing the Game
Finally, Zayn will test his game by playing it himself. He can invite family members to try it out too! This will give him a chance to see how players interact with his creation and think about what he might want to improve.
