Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create a Fortnite-themed art project, write a short story incorporating elements from the game, and solve math problems inspired by Fortnite scenarios.
Materials and Prep
- Paper (any kind will do)
- Pencil and eraser
- Colored pencils or markers
- Timer (optional, can use a phone or watch)
Before the lesson, the student should think about their favorite Fortnite character and some fun scenarios they would like to explore in their story and math problems.
Activities
-
Fortnite Character Drawing: The student will choose their favorite Fortnite character and draw them on paper. Encourage them to add their own twist, like a new outfit or a special weapon!
-
Fortnite Story Creation: The student will write a short story that features their character. They can include a mission, a battle, or a funny moment they imagine happening in the Fortnite world.
-
Math Challenge: Create math problems based on Fortnite! For example, if a character collects 5 shields and then finds 3 more, how many shields do they have now? Or, if they build 4 walls and each wall costs 3 materials, how many materials did they use?
Talking Points
- "What do you love most about your favorite Fortnite character?"
- "How can you make your story exciting? Think about what challenges they might face!"
- "In Fortnite, teamwork is important. How can you show that in your drawing or story?"
- "Math is everywhere, even in Fortnite! Can you think of other math problems we can create using Fortnite?"
- "Remember, art is about expressing yourself! Don't worry about it being perfect."
