Objective

By the end of this lesson, Gabriel and Jasmine will be able to understand the basics of golf, including its history, rules, and techniques, while also enhancing their skills in various subjects through fun, golf-themed activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Xbox One console with the Play Golf video game
  • Paper and colored pencils for art activities
  • Access to the internet for research
  • Notebook for writing exercises

Before the lesson, ensure the Xbox One is set up and the game is installed. Prepare a comfortable area for writing and drawing.

Activities

  • Golf History Research:

    Gabriel and Jasmine will research the history of golf, learning about its origins and famous players. They will write a short paragraph about what they found.

  • Art Project - Create Your Own Golf Course:

    Using paper and colored pencils, the students will design their own golf course, complete with obstacles and fun features. They can present their designs to each other.

  • Math - Scoring System:

    Gabriel and Jasmine will learn how to keep score in golf. They will practice calculating scores based on different scenarios in the game and create their own scoring sheet.

  • Physical Education - Mini Golf Challenge:

    Using household items, the students will create a mini golf course in their living space and take turns playing through it, focusing on their swing techniques.

  • Music - Golf-Themed Song:

    Gabriel and Jasmine will create a short song or chant about golf, using rhythm and rhyme to make it fun. They can perform it for each other!
