Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand the basic concepts of game design and strategy using Fortnite as a case study. They will be able to identify key elements of gameplay, discuss strategies, and even create their own mini-game concept inspired by Fortnite.

  • Notebook or paper
  • Pencil or pen

Before the lesson, ensure that the student has a basic understanding of how to play Fortnite, including the different game modes and objectives. Familiarize them with the idea of game design and strategy.

Activities

  • Fortnite Strategy Discussion

    Start with a discussion about the different strategies used in Fortnite. What are some successful tactics they have seen or used? Encourage the student to think about how they can outsmart their opponents.

  • Character Analysis

    Have the student choose their favorite Fortnite character and write a short paragraph about why they like them. What special abilities do they have? How do these abilities impact gameplay?

  • Create a Mini-Game

    Challenge the student to create their own mini-game inspired by Fortnite. They should outline the rules, objectives, and how players can win. This encourages creativity and understanding of game mechanics.

  • Fortnite Scavenger Hunt

    Set up a scavenger hunt using Fortnite themes. Create a list of items or objectives related to the game that the student must find or complete in a limited time. This can be done in the game or in their environment.
