Objective
By the end of this lesson, Joseph will be able to understand basic concepts of critical and creative thinking through engaging activities that involve technology. He will learn how to ask questions, think outside the box, and create simple solutions using his imagination.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencil or crayons
- Computer or tablet with internet access (if available)
- Timer (can use a clock)
Before starting the lesson, make sure Joseph understands what critical and creative thinking means. Explain that critical thinking is about asking questions and making good decisions, while creative thinking is about using our imagination to come up with new ideas.
Activities
- Question Time: Set a timer for 5 minutes and challenge Joseph to come up with as many questions as he can about a topic he loves (like dinosaurs, space, or superheroes). After time is up, discuss the questions together and see which ones are the most interesting!
- Invention Challenge: Ask Joseph to think of a problem he sees in everyday life (like a messy room or a boring game). Then, he can draw or describe a new invention that would solve that problem. Encourage him to be as creative as possible!
- Story Creation: Together, choose a character (like a robot or a dragon) and a setting (like outer space or a magical forest). Joseph will then create a short story about an adventure the character goes on. This will help him think critically about story structure and creatively develop characters!
