Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to create a fun and colorful digital poster using Canva. They will learn how to use different templates, add text, and include images to express their creativity!

Materials and Prep

  • Access to a computer or tablet with internet.
  • An account on Canva (free version is sufficient).
  • A list of ideas or themes for their poster (e.g., favorite animal, a dream vacation, or a superhero).

Before starting, make sure to explore Canva together to familiarize the student with its layout and tools. Show them how to log in and navigate the homepage.

Activities

  • Explore Templates

Have the student browse through Canva's poster templates. Encourage them to pick one that catches their eye. Discuss what they like about the design and how they can change it to make it their own.

  • Add Text

Guide the student in adding text to their poster. They can write a title and a few fun facts about their chosen theme. Encourage them to play with different fonts and colors to make the text stand out!

  • Incorporate Images

Help the student search for images or illustrations that match their theme. They can use Canva’s library or upload their own pictures. Discuss the importance of choosing images that fit well with their poster's message.

  • Final Touches

Once the poster is coming together, encourage them to add finishing touches like borders, stickers, or backgrounds. Remind them that creativity has no limits!
