Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to express personal experiences through movement, space, and objects, creating a short dramatization that showcases their unique story in a fun and creative way.
Materials and Prep
- No special materials are needed, just the student and a safe space to move around.
- Make sure the area is free of obstacles so the student can move freely.
- Encourage the student to think of a special memory or experience they would like to share through movement.
Activities
-
Memory Sharing:
The student will share a personal story or memory with you. Encourage them to think of a fun or exciting moment in their life. Ask guiding questions to help them remember details.
-
Movement Exploration:
Once the story is shared, the student will choose different movements to represent parts of their story. For instance, if they talk about a trip to the beach, they might pretend to swim or build a sandcastle.
-
Space and Object Use:
Encourage the student to use the space around them creatively. They can pretend a chair is a boat or a pillow is a mountain. Help them think of how to incorporate these objects into their story.
-
Performance Time:
Have the student perform their dramatization for you. Encourage them to use their body, voice, and any objects to tell the story. Applaud their effort and creativity!
Talking Points
- "Can you tell me a story about something fun you did?"
- "How can we use our bodies to show what happened in your story?"
- "What objects do you see around us that we can use in your story?"
- "Let’s pretend! How would you act out that part of your story?"
- "Wow! That was amazing! How did it feel to share your story with movement?"
