Materials and Prep

- Markers or crayons
- Scissors
- Glue or tape
- Stickers or small decorations (optional)

Before the lesson, it's helpful to have a basic understanding of what Advent is and its significance in the Christmas season. Advent usually starts four Sundays before Christmas and is a time of preparation and waiting.
Activities
-
Story Time:
Start by reading a simple story about Advent and its traditions. Discuss why people celebrate it and what it means to them.
-
Create Your Advent Calendar:
Guide the student in designing their own Advent calendar. They can decorate 25 small envelopes or boxes, each representing a day leading up to Christmas.
-
Daily Reflections:
Encourage the student to write or draw something they are thankful for each day of Advent. This can be added to their calendar as a daily surprise!
