Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to count by 1's and 2's up to 100, write numbers 0-9, spell and write simple words, and understand basic concepts in science, social studies, and foreign language.

Materials and Prep

  • Worksheets for writing numbers and connect the dots
  • Books: "If You Take a Mouse to School" and "It Was a Short Summer Charlie Brown"
  • Coloring materials for the color by number worksheet
  • Sign language resources for Psalm 111:2
  • Art supplies for scribbling (paper and crayons or markers)

Activities

  1. Number Writing Practice: Begin with Worksheet 1 to practice writing numbers 0-9. This will help improve penmanship and number recognition.

  2. Connect the Dots: Use Worksheet 2 to connect the dots from 1 to 50. This fun activity will reinforce counting skills while also creating a picture!

  3. Spelling and Sentences: Introduce two and three-letter spelling words. Have the student write sentences using these words to practice sentence structure.

  4. Reading Time: Read "Dan's Dog" together. Afterwards, discuss the story and identify beginning consonant and vowel sounds.

  5. Science Exploration: Discuss the story of Adam and Eve and the creation of Earth. Complete the color by number worksheet to visualize the Earth.

  6. Family Discussion: Talk about the importance of family. Have the student write a sentence about solving arguments kindly.

  7. Spanish Vocabulary: Introduce simple words in Spanish. Practice translating them to English, such as "boy" and "girl".

  8. Art Creation: Allow the student to scribble on paper and then create an image from the scribbles. Color and cut out the picture for a fun art project!
