Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will have a better understanding of South African history, including its culture, important figures, and key events. The student will also express their learning creatively through art and writing.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and colored pencils or crayons
- A notebook for writing
- Access to a comfortable space for art and writing
- Basic knowledge of South African history, such as the Apartheid, Nelson Mandela, and traditional cultures

Art Project: Create a Flag - The student will design their own version of the South African flag using colored pencils or crayons. Discuss the colors and shapes of the flag and what they represent.
