Before the lesson, gather the student's favorite song lyrics and ensure they are age-appropriate. Familiarize yourself with the lyrics to help guide the activities.
Activities

Lyric Hunt
Have the student choose a few lines from their favorite song. Together, read the lyrics and identify simple words. The student can circle these words with a crayon or colored pencil.

Word Art
Once the words are identified, the student can choose their favorite word and create a colorful piece of art around it. They can write the word in big letters and decorate it with drawings that relate to the song.

Songwriting Time
Encourage the student to create their own short song using some of the words they found. They can write down their lyrics and even sing them out loud for fun!
