Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to retell the stories of the Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and Little Red Riding Hood using store-bought puppets. They will also practice their storytelling skills and creativity while having fun with the puppets.
Materials and Prep
- Store-bought puppets representing the characters from each story
- A comfortable space to sit and play
- A clear understanding of each story to guide the retelling
Activities
-
Puppet Show Time:
The student will choose one of the stories and use the puppets to act it out. Encourage them to use different voices for each character and to add their own creative twists to the story!
-
Story Sequencing:
After acting out a story, the student can arrange the puppets in the order they appear in the story. This will help them understand the sequence of events and improve their memory skills.
-
Character Discussion:
Have a conversation about each character. Ask the student to describe their favorite character and why they like them. This encourages critical thinking and self-expression.
-
Mix and Match:
Let the student create a new story by mixing characters from different tales. For example, what if Goldilocks met the Three Little Pigs? This activity sparks imagination and creativity.
Talking Points
- "What do you think happens when the Three Billy Goats cross the bridge?"

- "How did Goldilocks feel when she tried the bears' porridge? Would you like it?"
- "What would you do if you met Little Red Riding Hood in the woods?"
- "Can you tell me a new story using these characters? What happens next?"
