Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will understand basic math concepts such as addition and multiplication through the lens of resource management in Strongest Battleground on Roblox. They will also learn about simple scientific principles related to strength and teamwork in a fun and engaging way.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and pencil for notes and calculations
  • Access to Strongest Battleground on Roblox
  • Timer (can use a phone or watch)
  • Basic understanding of addition and multiplication

Activities

  • Roblox Resource Math Challenge: The student will play Strongest Battleground and keep track of the resources they collect. After a set time, they will calculate the total resources gathered using addition and multiplication. This will help reinforce their math skills in a practical context.

  • Strength Teamwork Experiment: Discuss with the student how teamwork in the game can lead to better outcomes. Create a list of different character strengths and have the student rank them. This will help them understand the concept of teamwork and how different skills can complement each other.

  • Time Attack Math Game: Set a timer for 5 minutes and challenge the student to solve as many math problems as they can related to the game, such as calculating how many resources they would have after winning multiple battles. This will make math feel more like a game!

Talking Points

  • "In Strongest Battleground, every time you collect resources, you can think of it as adding to your total score. How many resources do you think you can gather in 10 minutes?"
  • "Teamwork is super important! Just like in the game, when you work with friends, you can achieve even more. Can you think of a time when you worked with someone to win a game?"
  • "Multiplication can help us understand how many resources we can get if we win multiple battles. If you collect 5 resources per battle and win 3 battles, how many resources do you have in total?"
  • "What do you think is the strongest character in the game? Why do you think they are strong? Is it just power, or do they have good teamwork skills?"
  • "Let’s make math fun! If you can solve this problem quickly, we can go back to playing Strongest Battleground. Ready? What’s 4 times 3?"
