Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to read and comprehend a short passage about stand up paddling.

Materials and Prep

  • Reading material about stand up paddling
  • Writing utensils
  • Whiteboard or large paper

Activities

  1. Introduce the topic of stand up paddling to the student. Show pictures or videos if available to engage their interest.
  2. Read the short passage about stand up paddling together, taking turns reading aloud. Encourage the student to ask questions and discuss any unfamiliar words or concepts.
  3. Ask the student to summarize what they have learned from the passage. Have them write or draw a picture to represent their understanding.
  4. Create a word bank on the whiteboard or large paper with stand up paddling-related vocabulary. Have the student choose a few words and write a sentence using each word.
  5. Play a game of "I Spy" using stand up paddling-related objects or images. Encourage the student to describe the objects using descriptive words and complete sentences.
