Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will have completed an A-Z research project on animals, enhancing their understanding of different species, their habitats, and unique characteristics. This will also develop their research skills and creativity.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Markers or colored pencils
  • Access to a computer or tablet (optional for research)
  • Printed or handwritten animal facts (optional)

Before starting the lesson, make sure the student understands how to search for animal facts if using a computer or tablet. Discuss the importance of using reliable sources.

Activities

  1. A-Z Animal List: The student will create a list of animals from A to Z. They can write down one animal for each letter and think of an interesting fact about each animal.

  2. Animal Drawings: For each animal on their list, the student will draw a picture. They can use markers or colored pencils to make their artwork colorful and fun!

  3. Fun Animal Facts: The student will write down one fun fact about each animal next to their drawing. Encourage them to be creative and think of facts that might surprise their friends!

  4. Animal Presentation: After completing the A-Z list, the student can present their favorite animal to the family. They can share their drawing and fun facts, practicing their speaking skills.
