Objective

By the end of this lesson, Nadia will be able to construct sentences related to weather conditions, describe different types of weather, and express her thoughts and feelings about the weather in a fun and engaging way.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen
  • Colored markers or crayons
  • Weather chart (can be drawn on paper)
  • Access to a window or outdoor space to observe the weather

Before the lesson, make sure to discuss the different types of weather (sunny, rainy, cloudy, snowy, windy) and how they can affect our daily lives. Encourage Nadia to think about her favorite weather and why she likes it.

Activities

  • Weather Observation:

Nadia will spend some time observing the current weather from a window or outside. She will take notes on what she sees and feels (e.g., "It is sunny and warm").

  • Weather Drawing:

Nadia will create a colorful weather chart that illustrates different types of weather. She can draw pictures for sunny, rainy, snowy, and windy days, labeling each one with a sentence describing the weather.

  • Sentence Construction Game:

Nadia will play a game where she constructs sentences using weather vocabulary. For example, she can start with "Today is..." and complete it with a weather condition (e.g., "Today is sunny and I feel happy").

  • Weather Diary:

Nadia will keep a simple weather diary for the week, writing a sentence each day about the weather and how it makes her feel. She can illustrate her diary entries with drawings.

Talking Points

  • "What do you see outside? Can you describe the weather right now?"
  • "How does the weather make you feel? Is it your favorite type of weather?"
  • "Can you think of activities we can do on sunny days versus rainy days?"
  • "Let’s create sentences together! How would you describe a rainy day?"
  • "Why do you think weather is important? How does it affect what we wear or what we do?"
